Marine Drive Graffiti
PortsideCafe furniture studio unveils “Marine Drive Graffiti” -- an ode to Bombay’s Art Deco legacy, adapts an aesthetic language where geometry meets ornamentation and every curve narrates a story. Inspired by the city’s bas relief facades, chevrons, ziggurats and architectural silhouettes that line the Queen’s Necklace, this collection reimagines Deco for the modern gaze – marking the centenary of the Art Deco movement. It celebrates a dialogue between form, color and memory with subtle and not-so-subtle references to the music, fashion, design, freedom, liberty and other cultural influences of the era. With a lighthearted nod to the playful grandeur of a 60’s Bollywood movie set, each piece becomes a modern echo of the city’s façades — graffiti on Bombay’s design legacy — narrating a dialogue between past and present, a fragment of memory turned into form.
